The Factory Five West team was the first official entry in this now annual event. With co-drivers Brian Dobyns, Brian Cates, Donny Edwards, and Dave Borden, the Lawson brothers earned their place in Factory Five lore and completed the race finishing fifth in class. Dan Lawson was killed in a racing accident two years later. He will be remembered for his racing skill, passion, and genuine friendship.
